The Department of Civil, Environmental and Geomatic Engineering (www.baug.ethz.ch) at ETH Zurich invites applications for the above-mentioned position.

The new professor will establish an internationally leading research group that broadly addresses transportation and mobility demands. With a particular focus on the mutual interactions between demands, infrastructure and operations, this research group should contribute to a holistic understanding of transportation and mobility including multimodal mobility systems, implications of emerging technologies, and truly sustainable mobility. The candidate’s research is expected to be strongly interdisciplinary and to have significant impact on the research field, policy-making, and industry. It should contribute to meet future transportation needs in the face of the uncertainties resulting from continuing urbanization, impacts of climate change, transformation of workplaces, digitalization, and further changes in demographics, living spaces, businesses, and social life.

The successful candidate has a strong academic background in an area directly related to transportation and mobility demand and is already internationally recognized for substantial contributions to a holistic understanding of transportation and mobility. A demonstrated track record of leading interdisciplinary collaborations, for example with spatial planning, urban planning, infrastructure design, economics, policy-making, or social sciences is required. Significant contributions to teaching at the undergraduate (in German or English) and graduate (in English) level are expected.

Please apply online: www.facultyaffairs.ethz.ch

Applications should include a curriculum vitae, a list of publications and projects, a statement of future research and teaching interests, a description of the leadership philosophy, three key publications, and a description of the three most important achievements. The letter of application should be addressed to the President of ETH Zurich, Prof. Dr. Joël Mesot. The closing date for applications is 31 January 2023. ETH Zurich is an equal opportunity and family-friendly employer, values diversity, and is responsive to the needs of dual-career couples.
