The Role

The job holder will be required to contribute to the smooth running of the Wind Tunnels by applying practical engineering skills and engineering knowledge to lead engineering tasks to fulfill Wind Tunnel test programme objectives. This will ultimately involve the co-ordination, planning, test integration, set up and operation of the Wind Tunnel Facilities and rigs.

Key activities associated with this role will be; to lead test tasks to ensure programmes are completed safely and efficiently on time, within budget and to the necessary quality standards in addition to liaison with the customer on technical aspects, to support testing activities including data acquisition / release and test reporting.

Your skills and qualifications:

Ideally you will have a HNC/HND/Degree or equivalent with a keen interest in Aerospace Engineering, Aerodynamics, Test Environments, Computational Modelling, Systems Engineering
Additional relevant knowledge, experience and product expertise can offset the normal qualification requirements.
You should be familiar with the overall systems engineering lifecycle
You should possess a strong aptitude for technical problem-solving and decision-making.
It is desirable that you will be familiar with IT Tools e.g. CAD systems, control software.
It is desirable you are familiar with Aerodynamic principles.
+5 years experience is required.
Additional relevant knowledge, experience and product expertise can offset the normal qualification requirements. An understanding of general theories and applications of Aerodynamic principles along with familiarity with some or all of the following is highly desirable - Systems Engineering, Design Engineering, Airframe Engineering
IT/Computing, Project Management.
Must have excellent skills in MS Office Packages, Test engineering (2+ years) , Aerodynamic knowledge (2+ years), Engineering Management (2+ years) and Wind Tunnel Test Techniques, Facilities, Rigs.
Communication, Team Working, Motivation and Logical thing & complex problem solving are essential
HRC / HND and Degree Mechanical Engineering/Aerodynamics NVQ 4 Ideally the candidate will have experience in one of the following:

Mechanical Engineering
Aerodynamics
Systems Engineering
Operating test equipment / test facilitiesThe Umbrella rate quoted above is the Gross Umbrella rate (i.e. the rate we pay to the Umbrella Company inclusive of ALL employment costs).
