We are currently looking for a Senior Structural Engineer to join our team based at our Slough office. The position itself will include, but not be limited to:
  • Development and delivery of concept, preliminary & detailed highway structure designs
  • Preparation of calculations, written reports and checking of drawings
  • Complex structural and data analysis and checking of junior colleagues' work
  • Providing technical guidance and leadership to junior colleagues
  • Supporting less experienced team members to allow them to achieve their full potential
  • Planning and management of project tasks and teams
  • Development of project task budgets and programmes and delivering to these targets
  • Attending client meetings and liaising with clients and other stakeholders
  • Planning and undertaking of site visits, inspections and investigations as required
  • Taking an active role in the implementation of CDM duties on projects
  • Adhere to PCL Quality Assurance, Health & Safety, Environmental and Sustainability systems and procedures.
  • Actively pursue on the job and formal training opportunities that complement PCL business needs and your personal development plan.
  • Utilising client's bridge management systems (structures databases)
Our ideal candidate will have but not limited to:
  • have experience working in a design team environment
  • have a Master's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
  • be professionally qualified (IEng or CEng) or nearing Chartered status in Civil or Structural Engineering
  • be technically strong with a background in steel and concrete bridge design and assessment
  • understand the underlying principles behind design and assessment standards
  • have a proven record supporting the delivery of detailed designs and assessment of highway bridges and structures
  • be adept at working within a team environment and have experience across a range of engineering structures
  • be self-motivated with good interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
  • possess strong analytical ability and a solid understanding of engineering fundamentals and current technical standards
  • appreciate the commercial requirements of projects and have experience supporting the development of budgets and programmes
  • understand basic structural concepts and the principles of highway structures engineering
  • communicate effectively and professionally with the design team, clients and contractors
  • understand Health & Safety requirements and CDM duties
  • have sound computer skills on the Microsoft Office package including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • have a working knowledge of AutoCAD
