We are working with a Lloyd's insurer who write a diverse book of energy business to hire a Risk Engineer. The successful candidate will provide technical expertise and advice to renewable and upstream/midstream energy underwriters on specific onshore and offshore renewable risk profiles. The role is a very important one which will shape and guide the renewable energy underwriting strategy for a wide range of insurance purchasers with large energy assets.
The successful candidate will be a Risk Engineer (ideally with an electrical engineering background or similar) who can credibly discuss subject matter such as battery storage, subsea cabling, turbine power output and stress loadings for onshore and offshore wind & solar projects. Candidates who can also advise on blue & green hydrogen projects and the latest battery development technologies are of great interest.
The first year of the role is expected to be a process of bedding into the risk engineering team, getting to know the underwriting appetite of the business whilst gradually familiarising with the insurance market brokers and the current energy portfolio. The role will include external travel to clients and conferences when required and getting involved in research and development projects.
Candidates with an engineering background and exposure to renewable energy are encouraged to send a CV for what is an exciting and pioneering role within a Lloyd's insurer.
