The College of Engineering (CoE, https://www.coe.miami.edu/) at the University of Miami invites nominations and applications for the Chair of the Department of Civil and Architectural Engineering (CAE, https://cae.coe.miami.edu/). The position will offer opportunities to advance the three Department cluster areas (Structures, Materials, and Building Environmental Systems), as well as university-wide initiatives, such as the Frost Institute of Chemical and Molecular Sciences and the Climate Resilience Academy, in collaboration with other academic units like the Rosenstiel School of Marine and Atmospheric & Earth Science, the Miller School of Medicine, and the College of Arts and Sciences. Moreover, the University of Miami’s College of Engineering has embarked on a series of strategic initiatives related to the University’s Roadmap to the Next Century. The college is especially interested in qualified candidates who can contribute, through their research, teaching and/or service, to the diversity and excellence of the academic community.

The successful candidate will be tenured in the College of Engineering. The search is open to candidates with expertise in any of the areas of Civil and Architecture Engineering or closely related areas. Candidates should have an earned Ph.D. in Civil or Architectural Engineering or a relevant engineering or science discipline with a track-record of significant accomplishments in research and teaching at a level sufficient to qualify for appointment to the rank of Full Professor with tenure. We are seeking an individual with excellent interpersonal skills, who can provide leadership toward building an equitable and diverse scholarly environment and capable of executing upon a clear organizational vision that will lead and grow the Department's research and educational mission to a new height in alignment with the mission and vision of the College of Engineering.
