Company:

My client is a multidisciplinary company that has been established over 100 years ago, with more than 500 employees and 18 offices across the UK. They work across a number of sectors and engineering disciplines including buildings / infrastructure / rail etc. They have a large geotechnical presence across the UK teams, but are particularly looking to increase their presence in the Westhill office.

Person specifications:

The company are looking to hire a graduate to intermediate level engineering geologist/geotechnical engineers with a good degree in Geology or Civil Engineering. An MSc in Geotechnics, Geotechnical Engineering or Engineering Geology would be beneficial but is not essential. Intermediate level engineers are expected to be working towards Chartered status.
The ideal candidate is expected to be proficient in the use of the Microsoft Office suite. Knowledge of AutoCAD, ArcGIS, RocScience (Slide, RocFall), Oasys (pDisp, Xdisp), gINT software would be an advantage.

Job responsibilities include:

Design and implementation of Preliminary Risk Assessments and Intrusive Ground investigations
Knowledge of soil and rock logging standards,
Intrusive ground investigation techniques,
Specification of appropriate soil and groundwater sampling methods
Scheduling of both geotechnical and environmental laboratory testing
Basic understanding of contaminated land legislation and planning regime to provide consideration of geo-environmental ground investigation scoping and generic risk assessment within wider combined site assessments, with the support of geo-environmental specialist staff;
Interpretative report writing including awareness and understanding of the following geotechnical issues: o Slope stability; o Foundations; o Earthworks; o Soil & Rock engineering; o Ground improvement;

- £24 - 27K depending on experience
