Assystem are recruiting a Transitional Energy Engineering Director to lead the strategic planning, capability development and technical delivery of all projects across our Transitional Energy business.

The post can be based from either our Sunderland or Culham offices, with regular travel to client and other Assystem sites.
The Engineering Director reports to the Senior Business Unit Director.

Role Requirements
Represent Assystem values by leading the growth of a diverse, collaborative, and high-performing team. This will include supporting initiatives such as our #incrediblewomen campaign, STEM outreach activities and leading the recruitment, retention and promotion of diverse teams.

• Provide technical leadership and oversight of projects and deliverables within assigned account. Act as first point of escalation for technical issues raised by project teams or client.
• Develop and manage the Transitional Energy capability development plan and strategy for capability and capacity growth in line with customer requirements.
• In collaboration with the relevant Business Manager and Key Account Manager, input to and support the implementation of the Budget Delivery Plan and Key Account Plan.
• Develop competitive differentiation by ensuring the team has best-in-class technical talent to innovate, support business development and solve challenging problems.
• Customer relationship management including resolution of delivery issues and developing relationships with the clients technical decision makers such as engineering director and head of engineering.
• Support Assystem-wide bids, initiatives, and development and sharing of lessons learnt and best practice.
• Support the sales and operations teams in presenting Assystem technical capability to current and potential customers.

PROFILE

Experience Required:

• Proven technical leadership experience in the fusion industry or renewable energy sources such as offshore wind or Hydrogen.
• Successful track record delivering multi-disciplined engineering projects, ideally in the development and commercialisation of new energy technologies.
• Building a positive, collaborative team culture in a multi-site and flexi-working team.
• Experience in a customer facing role influencing technical decision makers and working to resolve issues such as challenging projects in a collaborative win-win approach.
• Leadership of learning from experience and process improvement initiatives to help build high-performing teams.
• Excellent IT skills including Microsoft Office, PLM systems etc.
• Excellent organisational and communication skills.
• Has operated in an engineering consultancy or similar project based commercial environment (desirable).
• Ability to obtain UK Security Clearance (SC) (desirable).
