Akton are recruiting on behalf of a client who are looking for a chartered structural engineer with experience of defect diagnosis and structural investigations to join their surveying team. The role will involve carrying out site inspections, preparing reports and schedules of remedial works. These inspections will be on a variety of properties across sectors, with the majority being to residential properties. Other sectors will include healthcare and education.
The role will be flexible with a combination of office, site and remote working. The preference is full time; however, part time may be considered.
The position is due to continued success and expansion across the Northwest. They are now on the lookout for a passionate and driven individual who is looking to develop their career.
Role and Responsibilities
Carrying out structural surveys of buildings and structures and providing advice on any issues that may arise
Site visits to assess suitability for alterations and produce design drawings
Prepare reports on observations, findings and recommendations
Prepare schedule of remedial works
Oversee the production of design drawings and preparing specifications for tender purposes
Analyse and report on structural defects and remediation if required
Visiting sites during the Construction phase to monitor progress and provide advice to ContractorsExperience and Skills Required
MIStructE/MICE Chartered membership
Excellent communication skills, in both written and spoken English
Structural design experience in core materials: concrete, steel, masonry and timber
