Civil Engineering Team Manager needed! Could this be you?

Are you a Senior Civil Team Manager and are looking for a role to undertake a new role in Birmingham?

We have worked with this multi-locational business for over 10 years, and we are sourcing an experienced Civils Team Manager to join their Birmingham office.

The growing Civil Engineering discipline requires an experienced engineer to lead and manage their teams in delivering some exciting international projects. As a Team Manager you will be proficient in undertaking all aspects of design and coordination of civil engineering projects. However this is an excellent opportunity to develop your career in team management and leadership. If you are client focused and a driven individual, have strong leadership skills, enjoy managing teams and have good technical knowledge and interpersonal skills then this role is for you.

Said company are a multidiscipline Property and Construction Consultancy, who cover public and private sectors, new developments, regeneration and refurbishment who pride themselves on a 80% repeat business record. They pride themselves on their quality and reliability, and also being proactive and flexible.

They have been running since 1946, with 13 locations in the UK. They provide a comprehensive range of civil engineering design, procurement, coordination and project management services, including the Birmingham area.

Current Projects

Currently the company are working with projects in excess of £100 million, and are currently working on major governmental infrastructure schemes, in addition to cutting edge projects in the Formula 1 world. In addition they are involved with a multi-million, 32,000 square-metre patrol aircraft facility in Scotland.

The discipline has particular expertise in highways design, pavements, bridges, earthworks engineering, cut and fill assessments, ground remediation, underground services, flood alleviation, sustainable drainage systems, pumping stations and sewerage systems, external works and highway and drainage section agreements (S278, S38 & S104).

Jobs and Responsibilities

In this role you will need to be able to:

Manage and lead project teams
Working closely with other disciplines on multi-discipline projects i.e. architects, building services engineers, project managers and cost managers
Assessing resource levels to deliver challenging projects
Managing/ mentoring engineers and technicians towards Chartered status
Prepare client / project proposals to win new work
Representing the company at client and project meetings to present designs and make key project decisions
Preparing fee proposals and managing project costs
Construct project teams from internal and external resources
Project profitability (monitoring / planning of costs and budgets)
Procure project resources
Manage and co-ordinate highways and drainage designs relating to large development infrastructure projects
Produce Flood Risk Assessments (FRA's), Drainage Strategies, Nutrient Mitigation and other Pre-Planning advice
Provide day-to-day client interface, conducting site visits for technical assessment or problem-solving
Experience and skills required

Managing and leading project teams

Familiar with Part H and M of Building Regulations, British Standards and local authority requirements
Familiarity with Building Information Modelling (BIM) and its application within civil engineering
A solid understanding of drainage design, SUDS, highways, cut and fill analysis
Be proficient at design and happy to participate in productive work
You will have the technical skills, knowledge and experience to find creative solutions for even the most complex challenges and the ability to communicate these clearly to all parties.
