Please note: This client will also consider a contractor for this position. (PAYE or LTD Company)
The role will focus on the Oil & Gas market, including front end design consultancy studies, integrity management of onshore, offshore and subsea structures and decommissioning. You will also be called upon to support projects in other markets, such as renewables and low carbon-carbon markets.
Duties and Responsibilities of a Structural Engineer:
*
To work in a safe, responsible and cost effective manner, in full compliance with the Company's safety and quality management systems and design processes
*
Generate conceptual designs and prepare (or advise) design layouts using 2D AutoCAD or 3D (Solidworks) drawing packages, based on existing information and/ or survey data. Conduct on-site (onshore) surveys.
*
Concept / FEED & verification scopes using ‘first-principles' and appropriate design codes (bending, buckling, shear and bearing etc). Structural analysis software to be used where applicable
*
Present designs during internal & Client design and safety reviews
*
Prepare/ advise, review and revise detailed design drawings with CAD function
*
Preparation of design documents and procedures where applicable i.e. assembly, test, FAT, handling, storage, maintenance and commissioning procedures as required
*
Liaise and provide necessary support to the vendors, where applicable i.e. manufacturing/ fabrication, installation/ construction contractor, Client personnel etc
Essential Qualifications/Experience/Skills:
*
Engineering degree, honours or equivalent in civil, mechanical, or structural engineering, naval architecture or similar; other qualifications may be accepted depending on experience
*
Working knowledge of structural engineering design and relevant design codes for onshore and offshore (fixed, floating and subsea) structures
*
Working knowledge of structural/ finite element programs such as FS2000, STAAD Pro, Ansys, SESAM, Abaqus or similar would be beneficial
*
Experience with 2D (AutoCad) and 3D (Solidworks) would be beneficial
*
Must be adept in use of MS Office 2000
*
Experience in ownership and delivery of workscopes in short timescales; developing manhour budget estimates; producing proposals and project deliverables; progress reporting and liaison with Client(s)
*
Ability to effectively coordinate a multi-disciplined team of engineers, designers and support staff
*
Self-motivated and ability to work alone unsupervised
