Senior Civil Engineer

The Role:

Our client is a prominent housing development organisation in the North East, focused on the development of sustainable community schemes across the region. They have a new and exciting opportunity to join their Technical function in the role of Engineer / Senior Engineer depending on the level of experience.

You would be responsible for overseeing all aspects of engineering from land bid stage to post completion, including involvement in the efficient delivery of appropriate due diligence for land bids, design and build information to all departments, including land, construction, commercial, marketing and sales and customer care.

• Civil and structural engineering design including services, including engagement and monitoring of external consultants where necessary.• Developing and maintaining design and development briefing documentation for all external engineering appointments.• Site involvement to ensure all schemes optimise the correct foundation hierarchy solution.• Involvement in due diligence and abnormal information for new land bids.• Review and value engineering of all civil engineering designs including drainage, road construction and earth works.• Secure section agreements to suit development programme and assist in managing the legal and adoption process.• Review diversions / disconnections and new services orders pre contract ensuring the most cost effective stats design solutions are achieved.• Management of the engineering due diligence prior to bid and contract (earth works, retaining, off site sewers, diversions etc).• Research and develop new technical solutions for cost effectiveness.• A one stop shop for the engineering element of all schemes.• Able to interrogate all Civil Consultants' information for consistency, accuracy and value for money

The Person:

• Candidates should ideally be Chartered or working towards in a construction related discipline.• Have a good understanding of current planning issues with regard to housing design.• Experience of managing and maintaining relationships with stakeholders and providers.• Experience of preparing and delivering design solutions for significant new build housing schemes which meet customer expectations and commercial imperatives.• Awareness of current design agenda in housing development work.• Excellent organisational skills.• Sound technical knowledge and appreciation of buildability issues relating to housebuilders.• Effective communication and presentation skills.• Computer literate with proven CAD and specialist Engineering software skills.• Sound knowledge of NHBC Standards
