Senior Engineering Technician (AutoCAD)

SALARY:  $38.69 hourly

HOURS OF WORK: 4/10’s, 7 a.m. - 6 p.m., M-Th

The ideal candidate would have the ability to read, understand, and interpret multi-discipline engineering plans, drawings, specifications, and other technical documents as well as prepare engineering design drawings for a large public utility using AutoCAD; be familiar with Civil Engineering terminology and drafting practices; be proficient in reviewing and evaluating design documents created by others in conformance with District requirements; demonstrate experience in effectively communicating complex technical ideas to non-technical personnel, both verbally and in writing; and be able to train and mentor all levels of technical staff while under tight deadlines on critical projects and systems within a team environment.

INTRODUCTION: Human Resources will screen applications and supplemental questionnaires. Candidates possessing the strongest skills and experience for this position will be forwarded to the hiring department for further evaluation and to determine who will be invited to the formal interview process. The candidate hired will be required to pass a drug screening, background check, and may be required to pass a job-related physical evaluation.

Training and Experience: A typical way of obtaining the knowledge, skills and abilities outlined above is an Associate's degree in engineering or a closely related field; and five years of progressively responsible sub-professional engineering experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
