Job Details

Working in the field of geotechnical engineering for projects starting from parking lot to high-rise buildings, interstate highways and bridges, dams and other water retaining structures [also including industrial facilities, shopping malls, hotels and motels, residence and office buildings, educational and religious facilities, fast food and restaurant facilities, drainage systems, pipelines, recreation facilities, communication towers] and various other structures.

Duties will include site visits, field coordination, soil classification and laboratory test result review, foundation engineering analysis to preparation of geotechnical engineering reports and construction monitoring.  Duties will also include construction site overview and monitoring based on project requirements.

BS/MS in Civil/Geotechnical Engineering, with strong background and knowledge in geotechnical / foundation engineering and construction.  Field coordination skills will be beneficial.  Working experience in public projects, e.g., roadway, bridges, water retaining structures, etc. will be preferred and appreciated.  Construction site overview and monitoring experience will be helpful.

PE License is preferred [not an absolute requirement].

GCME’s clients include mainly the Florida Department of Transportation [FDOT], Florida's Turnpike Enterprise [FTE], South Florida Water Management District [SFWMD] and local governments. GCME’s project list mainly includes widening/replacement of highway bridges and widening/improving of major highways in South Florida. Candidates will have the unique opportunity to work on major projects like widening of Florida’s Turnpike and Interstates [e.g. I-95, I-75, I-595, etc.], State Roads and County Roads and major Airport improvements in South Florida. GCME also provides geotechnical engineering and consulting for major water storage reservoir design and construction (SFWMD Projects). So, candidates will have a great exposure to design and construction of bridges, highways, dams and other structures. GCME was the only geotechnical consultant, as part of the I-595 Corridor Design Consultant [CDC] team representing FDOT, performed all the necessary field exploration, laboratory testing and preliminary engineering required as per FDOT design standards to develop the Technical Criteria Package for the I-595 P3 project. GCME was also responsible for providing all geotechnical design reviews for all geotechnical reports and documents for this largest P3 project in Florida. GCME is also provided similar geotechnical services as owner's representative for the I-75 Managed Lanes Design Build projects Segment A, B, C, D & E in Broward/Miami-Dade County. In addition, GCME has also provided similar services as owner's representative for the I-4 P3 Project in Central Florida, FDOT D-5. At present GCME is provided similar services as owner's representative for the I-95 Design Build Projects in South Florida, Segments B-1, B-2 and C.
