Akton are recruiting on behalf of a client who have a vacancy in their Leicester office for a Principal Structural Engineer.

Role Overview

The successful applicant will be responsible to undertake structural design on a wide variety of civil and structural engineering projects. The projects are within the commercial, residential, industrial and education sectors on projects up to £30 million in value.

The successful candidate will:
  • Hold a BEng/MEng qualification and have a minimum of 7 years post graduate experience
  • Be chartered or working towards chartership status through IStructE or ICE
  • Have design experience and structural analysis skills in all common structural materials including steel, concrete, timber, and masonry
  • Be proficient in relevant engineering design software
  • Have excellent communication skills
  • Be able to manage numerous projects, allocate resources to meet deadlines and liaise with clients
  • Manage a team of project engineers and technicians accordingly
  • Confidently represent the company at meetings and liaise with clients, consultants, and contractors
  • Write accurate reports and project documentation
  • Be a positive team member
  • Have a full driving licence and own transport
