Expleo are currently recruiting for an experienced Senior Environmental Substance Management Engineer to join a leading Automotive Research and Development Team.
Based close to Milton Keynes / Bedford, you will be working within a dedicated team of Engineers on a contract basis.
Responsibilities of the Environmental Substance Management Engineer include:
* Identification of Substances of Very High Concern (SVHC) and reporting
* Creation of Safe Use Instruction (SUI) and transfer to reporting system
* H&S database updated to meet EU, ECHA & UK HSE requirements
* Create and update Knowledge Maps, Work Instructions and Job Procedures to capture best practice
* Ensure all databases are updated to latest level data
* Materials and Substance safety datasheet gathering, analysis and reporting to relevant bodies
* Liaise with product suppliers and external organisations, to gather and share substance / materials use and compliance actions
* Consolidate and report substance / material usage data, confirming actions required to ensure compliance
* Quality check and maintain received data, ensure accurate data is correctly stored
To be considered for the role of Environmental Substance Management Engineer, you will have the following knowledge, skills and experience:
* Ideally hold a Chemistry, materials science or environmental qualification
* Knowledge of IMDS or similar material / substance database systems
* Understanding of environmental legislation requirements in the EU and UK
* Basic understanding of substances, mixtures and vehicle parts, their layout within the vehicle, and their function / use
* Ability to prepare technical reports, presentations and training material
* Basic chemistry knowledge, along with vehicle component and construction awareness
