Senior Geotechnical Engineer

An exciting position for a Senior Geotechnical Engineer at a Geotechnical Consultancy in Newcastle has come available for an engineer who has experience in preliminary design. The successful candidate will work as part of a team producing technical reports and calculations for various projects.

As a Senior Geotechnical engineer you will be working as part of a multi-disciplinary consultancy to deliver GI and assist with preliminary Geotechnical design for residential and commercial projects.

The responsibilities of a Senior Geotechnical Engineer include, supervising detailed ground investigations, an in depth understanding of soil mechanics and the ability to perform appropriate calculations for bearing capacity and settlement design, experience regarding foundation design, earthworks, coal mining risk assessments and remediation work with familiarity to associated standards.

Senior Geotechnical Engineer specification:

Ideally first class degree in Civil Engineering, Geology or Geotechnical Engineering along with a relative MSc in Geotechnical Engineering. Soil Mechanics or Engineering Geology.
Approaching chartership with the ICE, I would also consider a chartered engineer.
Well-rounded knowledge of Geotechnical Engineering and design principals
Understanding of foundations, bearing capacities, settlement calculations and recommendations.
Ideally experience of geotechnical design of slopes, earthworks, foundations, retaining walls, embedded walls, piles / pile groups, soil nails, ground improvement, and other ground works.
