Section I: Scope
The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Manhattan College invites applications for one tenure-track faculty position, specializing in Transportation Engineering. The position will be filled at the Assistant Professor rank commencing Fall 2023. Candidates with specialization in any area of Transportation Engineering are encouraged to apply, especially those with expertise in traffic operations, urban transportation planning, safety and ITS, multimodal systems, or AI/ML applications to transportation data analysis.

Reports to: Chairperson of Civil & Environmental Engineering Department
Supervises: None
Responsibilities:
Teach courses in Transportation Engineering at both the undergraduate and graduate (M.S.) levels, initiate and sustain quality research (especially, research with undergraduate and MS level students), and provide service to the College and the department at various levels appropriate to the candidate’s background and interests. All applicants are expected to have the necessary background to teach introductory civil engineering and introductory engineering mechanics courses.
Section III: Qualifications
Applicants must have an undergraduate degree and a doctoral degree in Civil Engineering or a related field and must be qualified to teach at both the undergraduate and graduate (M.S.) levels.
The successful candidate will have a demonstrated expertise in specialty areas within Transportation Engineering and a professional engineering license or the ability to obtain one within a reasonable time. Additional qualifications include proven track records in one or more of the following: ability to attract external research grants, student advising, outreach, and industry experience. Candidates will be evaluated on the above qualifications, as well as academic background, professional experience, communication skills, and potential for excellence in teaching, scholarly and professional activity and service to the College.

The Civil and Environmental Engineering Department at Manhattan College is the largest academic department in the College and home to the largest Civil Engineering undergraduate program in New York City. The department offers graduate (Masters) degree programs in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, and Environmental Engineering. The faculty members of the department possess expertise in a wide range of fields and have strong ties to the civil, environmental, and construction industries in the region.
