The University of Northern British Columbia (UNBC) invites applications for a probationary/continuing appointment in the School of Engineering at the rank of Senior Instructor I, with proposed starting date of July 1, 2023. This position is within the School of Engineering at UNBC (https://www.unbc.ca/engineering). The successful candidate will join a dynamic team of established and junior researchers in engineering, will teach relatively small undergraduate classes, and will enjoy many excellent opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration.

The candidate's teaching will focus on professional/technical communications. Teaching responsibilities will include delivering foundational technical communication courses that are linked to the first- and second-year design courses as well as graduate level technical communication courses. The successful applicant will engage with the Northern BC community to develop outreach actions to promote the School of Engineering.

Applicants for this position must hold a Masters’ degree or higher in a relevant discipline (such as technical writing/communication, persuasive writing or rhetoric). Teaching experience in a post-secondary or adult education setting will be a benefit. The ideal candidate should be willing to help develop the curriculum to support a strong foundation in engineering while exploring challenges for the future. The successful applicant will participate in teaching and assessing graduate attributes relating to teamwork, communication, professionalism, ethics and equity, and life-long learning.

It includes a satellite campus in the coastal community of Prince Rupert.
