Description of Work:
The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at UNC Charlotte invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure track Lecturer or Assistant Teaching Professor position. This is a 9-month teaching position on an initial 2-year renewal contract. Applicants for the position are required to have a PhD degree in Civil Engineering or a MS Degree in Civil Engineering with significant civil engineering professional experience. Licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE) is preferred.

Essential Duties:
The candidate for this position will be expected to teach sophomore level undergraduate courses that could include introduction to engineering, surveying and computer-aided drawing, engineering economics, and sophomore design. The candidate may also have an opportunity to teach upper-level courses and/or participate in the senior capstone design course, depending upon their area of expertise and qualifications for this position, but ideal candidates will have both teaching and civil engineering professional practice experience, excellent communication skills, and a strong interest in teaching excellence.

Department Preferred Education, Skills and Experience:
Applicants for the position are required to have a PhD degree in Civil Engineering or a MS Degree in Civil Engineering with significant civil engineering professional experience. Licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE) is preferred.

Necessary Licenses: Licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE) is preferred. (not required)

The Civil and Environmental Engineering Department at UNC Charlotte has approximately 400 undergraduate students. The faculty value student-faculty engagement and excellent undergraduate teaching.
