Lecturer or Assistant Teaching Professor (#004622)

Description of Work:
The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at UNC Charlotte invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure track Lecturer or Assistant Teaching Professor position. This is a 9-month teaching position on an initial 2-year renewal contract. Applicants for the position are required to have a Master’s or a PhD degree in Civil Engineering with primary expertise in geotechnical engineering. For applicants with only a Master’s degree, significant professional experience is required. A Professional Engineer (PE) license is preferred.

Essential Duties:
The candidate for this position will be expected to teach introductory geotechnical engineering courses (including the geotechnical laboratory) in addition to upper level courses that include topics related to deep foundations, slope stability, and retaining structures. The candidate may also have an opportunity to participate in the senior design capstone course, depending upon their area of expertise and qualifications. All candidates must meet the minimum qualifications for this position, but ideal candidates will have both teaching and civil engineering professional practice experience, excellent communication skills, and a strong interest in teaching excellence.
