About the Role

Our client is looking for a principal geo-environmental engineer, holding a degree or higher in geology, geotechnics, environmental science (or a similar subject), to provide guidance and leadership to their engineers and senior engineers.

The role will involve scoping, pricing, planning and managing site investigation works, as well as authoring reports.

There will be a string element of helping to develop younger engineers, including reviewing and approving others' reports, as well as mentoring and coaching.

The successful candidate will specialise in at least one of the following three areas of expertise: ground stability, ground contamination or geotechnics. Knowledge of a second area would be a distinct advantage.

The role will involve working under the direct supervision of the managing director and will involve the management of clients and suppliers.

The successful candidate will be somebody who is an excellent team player, and is willing to share their knowledge with our younger engineers, to help them to grow and develop through their career. Essential Qualifications / Experience/ Skills:
  • Degree or higher in geology, ground engineering, ground contamination or similar relevant subject
  • Experience of scoping site investigation
  • Significant experience of managing site investigation
  • Significant technical experience of authoring geotechnical engineering; ground stability OR Experience of environmental risk assessments
  • Excellent time management skills

Desirable Qualifications / Experience/ Skills:
  • Chartered Geologist, Scientist or Environmental Scientist
  • Holder of a SMSTS, PTS, EURSA Cards or similar qualifications.
  • First Aid at Work, Level 3.
  • Confidence in liaising with colleagues and subcontractors
  • Experience in winning new work and managing client accounts
  • Excellent arithmetic and communication skills
  • Experience of checking others' reports

Special Conditions:
  • You must hold a full UK Driving license with no more than 3 penalty points as there will be significant independent travel involved in the post between sites
