Job title: Quantity Surveyor - Utilities + Civil
Salary: £35,000 - £50,000 + Company van and fuel card + Pension + Hybrid working
Location: South Wales + Nationwide
A nationwide construction company, experiencing high growth, is seeking a commercially competent Quantity Surveyor to join their close-knit team working on civil engineering and utilities projects. There is a big focus on renewable energy projects which provides the successful candidate a great opportunity to grow alongside the business and progress throughout the operational ranks.
With the company's head office based in South Wales, the successful candidate will work in line with a hybrid model and be expected to visit their nationwide sites on a weekly/fortnightly basis to conduct measures/take-offs as well as to ensure a proactive approach to project completion.
Responsibilities include:
* Pre-tender site meetings to produce quotations with an analysis of works ready for Site Management team
* Working with sub-contractors and suppliers to gain quotes for all subcontracted work and materials, proactively managing costs and relationships - monitoring and recording with daywork sheets, C.V.I.'s (Confirmation of Verbal Instruction), and E.W.N.'s (Early Warning Notices)
* Supporting the delivery of contract administration and submitting monthly valuations to Accounts
* Liaising with sub-contractors, Site Managers, suppliers, and the client to keep informed on project progress and to manage project change
* A commercially focused approach delivering on: Early Warning and Change Management, Cost Forecasting, Payments, Cost Auditing and agreements of Final Accounts whilst proactively managing and mitigating commercial and business risk
* Managing contracts in line with robust Management Information and Reporting to negotiate and resolve claims/disputes alongside senior management
* In accordance with Health & Safety regulations and Company requirements, there will be the provision of necessary training
Essential experience:
* A Full driving licence
* A clear demonstration of construction/contract knowledge (Civils and Groundworks) and a strong commercial awareness
* Attention to detail and proficient IT skills are essential
* Strong communication and people management skills
* Strong work ethic and desire to be part of a team
Desirable experience:
* Experience of managing medium to large projects
* NEC suites of contracts
* Qualified to ICES or RICS accreditation
* Health and safety training certificate (SMSTS or H&S Awareness)
* CSCS Card for role and/or other relevant safety training (Manual Handling, Asbestos Awareness, First Aid at Work, etc.)
