The Opportunity

We seek an engineer who has experience of mechanical/structural engineering across a wide range of sectors and various project sizes to work predominantly on Moveable Structures Specialist Structural and Mechanics team within Technical Services. They will have a strong background in the fundamentals of mechanical study and design. It will be a benefit if they also have experience developing digital tools and workflows to enable efficient working.

You will be responsible to manage and produce mechanical/structural design and integration of components/systems on various kinetic projects. Perform computations and simulations to size, optimise, and validate mechanical systems and components.

Working collaboratively as part of a wider team and building/maintain good client relationships (internal and external to Arup). Advise clients on procurement methods, testing, and construction management of movable structures projects.

Is This Role Right for You?

We are looking for people who are:
  • Design and analysis of mechanical structures to relevant standards (e.g. crane codes) and appropriate manufacturing methods.
  • Knowledge of various mechanical systems and components, such as drive systems, actuators, bearings, controls etc.
  • Write technical reports and specifications, Fatigue exploration and subsequent design to codes.
  • Digital skills - experience operating analysis and CAD packages, ideally including GSA, LS-DYNA, Ansys, SimSolid, RhinoInventor and Revit
