Senior Energy Engineer

ASR Group (Tate & Lyle) has its roots in one of the world's most fundamentally sustainable crops - sugarcane. We produce a full line of grocery, industrial, food service and specialty sweetener products.

Championing sustainability and maintaining the brand's philanthropic legacy started by Henry Tate. Tate & Lyle's Thames Refinery, on the banks of the River Thames in London, is the largest in Europe and has been refining cane sugar since 1878.

We are looking to hire a Senior Energy Engineer to achieve the ASR group's sustainability and de-carbonisation targets to help maintain us as a market leader for the production of sugar products in an ever-evolving market place. We have set our ambitions on being at the forefront of our industry, actively leading - we strive to lessen our footprint on the planet by concentrating on three key areas: energy, water and waste.

As our Senior Engineer you will review, monitor, and optimize refinery energy performance of the plant, through the investigation above stand process energy use, driving of technical improvement and optimization across the short, medium, and long term goals.

This role is based on site in our Thames Refinery in London.

What will you be doing?

* Work independently, under the direction of the Utilities Manager and Plant Manager, to identify and undertake capital projects scoped to exceed energy and carbon reduction targets.

* Develop systems, techniques, and models to track and benchmark energy usage of Thames Refinery vs industry and group best practise.

* Work with Process Team Managers, Utilities operators, Console and Field operators to diagnose inefficient operation and root cause resolution.

* Drive technical development, influence refinery cultural & behavioural change to minimise energy, water & air consumption and maximise condensate return.

* Focus on development of medium to longer term energy strategy, working in conjunction with the Utilities Manager and Corporate teams to support and drive projects from inception to delivery.

* Facilitate small to medium scope projects to enhance energy and water consumption performance and reduce costs.

* Contribute to large scale decarbonisation projects as appropriate in order to significantly reduce the carbon footprint of the Refinery.

What are we looking for?

* Relevant experience in Utilities, Boiler operation and Power generation in a large process or manufacturing operation

* Educated to degree level in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering.

* Understanding of Refining Processes and Energy Efficiency Optimisation techniques.

* Knowledge of safety management systems such as risk assessments, permits to work, safety auditing, HAZOP, etc

* Strong knowledge of automated control systems.

* Good technical understanding of process flows and unit operations.

* Strong knowledge of project lifecycle, and gated process
