My client is an independent consulting and engineering services group, and a leader in infrastructure, energy, environmental and city solutions. My client has over 50 years' experience supporting public, private, and institutional clients in developing transport, water, buildings, renewable energy and rural development projects, from concept through to commissioning and operation.

They are currently recruiting for a Principal Structural Engineer to join their Paddington office in London. We are seeking a talented structural engineer to lead the technical delivery of major infrastructure projects including bridges and underground structures. Our focus is on the use of our skills to deliver innovative and economic solutions for our clients. As a Principal Structural Engineer, you will be able to:

* Grow your career within our infrastructure business

* Guide the design or a section of the design responding directly to the Project Director for delivering the project

* Provide support in the development of the business including fee proposals preparation and bid documents

* Supervise and be responsible for the job carried out by your team, reporting directly to the Technical Director

* Provide the London structures team with leadership and guidance focused on project delivery and technical quality, including mentoring, and supporting early career professionals within the team

As a Principal Structural Engineer, your career has provided you with technical skills and structural knowledge which has given you the ability to translate your understanding of structural behaviours and analytical techniques into effective structural analyses and designs. Your experience in the analysis and design of complex infrastructures means you are familiar with working with the industry codes, including Eurocodes, and standards. With your interpersonal skills, you can guide teams in the analysis of structures and also communicate effectively in the face to face meetings with clients and colleagues. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the following:

* A Master's degree in Structural Engineering with, preferably, a solid background in seismic design (MSc or equivalent)

* Chartered with a relevant professional institution (IstructE preferred)

* Right to work in the UK (mandatory)

* Between 5 and 10 years of practical design experience in the infrastructures industry with a focus on long-span bridges

* Sound experience in analytical software packages such as SAP2000, Midas Civil and Lusas

* Experience in business development and ability to win work and sell the Company's services

* A thinking "outside the box" and a can-do attitude to solving complex design problems outside the candidate's current experience

* Ability to lead a cad technician team and provide markups drawings for detailed design

* Ability to lead and mentor team members on tasks such as structural analysis, structural engineering, feasibility studies, tender designs, detail designs, and the production of contract documents and technical reports
