Aqua-Tech Recruitment are delighted to be working with a leading Engineering company who specialise in the water industry. Due to various recent project wins, they are looking to grow their teams and are currently looking for Mechanical Project Engineers. This is an exciting opportunity to join a rapidly growing company who are already well established and highly reputable. The client is extremely forward thinking and will consider a 4-day working week after the initial probation period. They have offices in Cumbernauld, Edinburgh, Preston and Inverness with extremely flexible working arrangements (office/home based).

The Mechanical Project Engineer will be responsible for assisting in all delivery preparation activities in and during operational life of programmed work.

In your role as a Mechanical Project Engineer, you will provide full project guidance and ensure that maintenance plans are developed and agreed as the overall work package evolves.

General Outline of the role:

The Mechanical Project Engineer will be responsible for the procurement of goods and services, preparing estimates and quotations and completing contract documents. The post holder will also produce risk assessments and method statements and manage health and safety and environmental issues. They will manage the performance of a project end-to-end, while also supervising operational teams including Site, Supervisors and sub-contractors.

Duties will include:

Undertake site surveys, taking measurements, photos, asking questions of operations, understanding of process, assessing access and egress

Write detailed and accurate Risk Assessment and Method Statements (RAMS)

Resolve technical and logistical issues as they arise

Supporting the sites' needs, material, labour, resources and plant

Drive and lead procurement of materials through creation and review of bill of quantities

Evaluate, organise and prioritise workload within the schedule

Attend client meetings

Regularly reporting projects progress and updates to Senior Management

Technical assessment of supplier quotations

Programme management: adherence to programmes and report to management on any discrepancies

Supplier management: Day to day liaison with suppliers and sub-contractors

Desirable:

The Mechanical Project Engineer should have a relevant engineering degree or HND

The Mechanical Project Engineer should have a good understanding of NEC form of contract would be advantageous

The Mechanical Project Engineer should have an understanding of water and waste-water industry and processes or experience in industrial electrical installations, utilities industry experience (i.e., rail, telecoms, national grid, water or equivalent engineering industries/ backgrounds).

This is a permanent role with a salary of £32,000 - £52,000 depending on experience and can be based anywhere in Scotland
