A leading UK multidisciplinary property and construction consultancy have an opportunity at Associate level within their structural engineering team. The team is expanding in response to a strong and diverse workload, creating an exciting opportunity for an ambitious individual to develop their career.

With a strong record in regen and refurb, the team has particular expertise in high rise structures and complex projects. Your remit as an Associate will see you manage and be able to undertake all aspects of the engineering design and financial management of the projects and your section of the team. You will cover a wide range of disciplines in property and construction and be responsible for providing a wide range of structural engineering services.

In addition to what would be the normal duties of an Associate, we also seek an individual who has that flair and desire to bring in their own work and develop business for the team on top of that which comes in from other parts of the business. Business Development aside, you will also be a good people person internally but also externally with clients, with the ability to develop relationships and the strength to tell clients that what they propose isn't possible and why!.

Experience and skills required

Excellent communication skills, in both written and spoken English
Drive to expand the current team and explore new business opportunities
Minimum 6-8 years design experience
Ideally Chartered
A relevant engineering qualification (MEng or equivalent)
Demonstrable track record of working in a similar role, ideally within a private practice
Project experience throughout the RIBA plan of work
Possess a good working knowledge of Software including SCIA, Tekla and TEDDS

Experience of leading a team of engineers and technicians
Competent and reliable designer in structural steelwork, reinforced concrete, masonry and timber
Experience of refurbishment and change of use designs as well as new build work
Familiar and empathetic with all forms of building construction
Proficient in the use of analysis and design software (TEDDS, TSD, etc)
Hold current UK driving licence
