Geotechnical Engineer

Geotechnical Engineer required for our client a specialist Geotechnical Consultancy based in the West Midlands. They are looking to appoint a Lead Engineer to join their dynamic team, you will have the opportunity to work on a range of infrastructure projects, Civils, Road, Rail etc. The successful candidate will be either a Graduate Geotechnical Engineer a Geotechnical or a Principal Geotechnical Engineer with experience of Rail Projects (desirable but not essential).

The Geotechnical Engineer will be expected to have a strong geotechnical design and analytical capability in relation to slope stability, retaining walls, pile design, foundations and drainage. As Senior Engineer you will be responsible for the delivery of your own projects from concept stage to completion.

This is an excellent opportunity for a dynamic, ambitious individual who has experience working as a Geotechnical Engineer looking to take their next step, it would be advantageous for the candidate to have experience with Rail Project as well as experience using the following Design software. (Slope/W, WALLAP, REPUTE, TEDDS, AutoCAD)

Geotechnical Engineer Position Overview

Projects typically include the inspection and assessment of embankments, cuttings, retaining walls, culverts and drainage assets predominantly within the rail network
Responsible for preparation of project plans, implementing site surveys, coordinating and supervising the design teams.
Report preparation, allocation of resources and budget control.
Earthwork, foundation and drainage designs
Temporary works designs for plant access
Project completion to specific requirements and in accordance with HSQE procedures.
Liaising with clients and external consultants
Review Risk Assessments and Method Statements

Geotechnical Engineer Position Requirements

A Degree and Masters / MEng in a Geotechnical / Civil Engineering discipline
Desire to work towards Chartered status
Experience in geotechnical design calculations and design reports for rail projects
UK Driving Licence
Detailed knowledge of Eurocodes and current engineering codes of practice
Good knowledge of (Slope/W, WALLAP, REPUTE, TEDDS, AutoCAD)
Good technical report writing skills

Salary - £25K- £48K - DOE
20 Days Holiday + Bank Holidays
