Job Details

The City of De Pere is seeking two Engineer Technicians to become an integral part of our team.  The Engineer Technician performs engineering work associated with drafting, surveying, design and construction inspection, and maintenance of public works projects and other activities.  The City of De Pere may hire at either the Engineer Technician or Engineer Senior Technician level, depending on experience and qualifications.

Salary:  Depending on qualifications, plus an excellent benefits package.

 

Engineer Technician                 $27.02 - $30.85 per hour

Engineer Senior Technician    $31.44 - $35.96 per hour

 

Qualifications:

 

Engineer Technician

  1. Associate Degree in Civil Technology, or equivalent, from an accredited education institution.
  2. Practical work experience as an intern or permanent employment as a Civil Engineering Technician.
  3. Valid unencumbered Wisconsin driver’s license and safe driving record.
  4. Practical work experience in construction operations and inspection.

 

Engineer Senior Technician

  1. Associate Degree in Civil Technology, or equivalent, from an accredited educational institution.      
  2. Minimum of four years of experience as a Civil Engineering Technician.
  3. Experience with GIS and CAD systems are desirable.
  4. Practical work experience in construction operations and inspection.
  5. Valid unencumbered Wisconsin driver’s license and safe driving record.

 

 A combination of education and experience may be considered.

 

Typical Work Schedule:  The normal work schedule is Monday - Thursday, 6:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. and Friday, 6:30 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. plus additional hours as required to complete assignments.  Technicians are required to work additional hours during the construction season.  This varies depending on contractor schedules but weekly averages of 45 to 50 plus hours do occur.  Technicians receive overtime pay over 40 hours per week.  However, the City of De Pere recognizes the importance of its employees having a proper work-life balance and supports alternative work arrangements which include alternative work schedules, flexible scheduling, and remote work to help meet your lifestyle needs.

 

Public Student Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) Program: The City of De Pere is a qualifying employer under the PSLF Program.  The PSLF Program is a federal program that is intended to encourage individuals to work in public service by forgiving the balance of their federal student loans.  To qualify, the individual must have made 120 qualifying payments while employed by a qualifying employer.  For more information about the PSLF program: https://studentaid.gov/manage-loans/forgiveness-cancellation/public-service.
