Astute are proudly partnered with an established and growing renewable energy developer who operate across Europe to develop and operate onshore wind farms and related assets such as substations. My client are looking for an Electrical Engineer / Substation Engineer, who will lead technical matters related to substation operations, maintenance, fault finding and investigation.

This will be a challenging role, working in the rapidly growing and thriving wind sector. The successful candidate will have a background of substations, transformers or generators or other balance of plant systems engineering and operations, ideally working on root cause analysis and investigations of failures or break downs.

Roles & Responsibilities:
As an Electrical Engineer, you will be responsible for:

· Defining and managing the scope and requirements for electrical inspection and maintenance, working with internal asset management teams and external contractors to ensure this is completed to industry and company standards.
· Lead root cause analysis of electrical failures in substations, balance of plant and wind turbines. Working with internal engineers and external subcontractors to deliver remedial works and ensure continued safe operations - returning assets back to service.
· Specify and where necessary, lead asset inspections to ID potential operational or health & safety issues.
· The delivery of electrical work packages for the development, operation and maintenance of onshore substations and wind assets.
· Ensure that all activities are in accordance with national and international standards such as the Grid Code, SQDD, RFG etc. as well as ethics and general good practices.
· Work with internal departments to identify and source replacement parts and subcontractors.
· Support business growth activities by participating in technical studies, providing technical knowledge and insight where necessary.
· Identification of potential risks or issues to project matters including potential remedies.
· Assist and lead continuous improvement strategies to ensure completed works are "state of the art" and truly innovative.

Skills & Qualifications:
We are looking for someone with the following:

· Degree or equivalent qualification in Power Systems Engineering or Electrical Engineering is essential.
· A minimum of 2-3 years of electrical engineering experience, working on substations, transformers or other balance of plant equipment is essential.
· A strong understanding of working with balance of plant including LV and HV subcomponents or electrical infrastructure.
· Have carried out root cause analysis, electrical inspection and testing of high voltage systems.
· A working understanding of SCADA is preferred.
· Good commercial awareness management of projects in support of continual operations or return to service works.
· Exposure to power grid regulatory codes and standards would be advantageous.
· Understanding of GB grid codes and standards associated with WTG connection to MV networks and the grid is desirable.
· Experience of working in multi-national environments would be an advantage but not essential.
· Excellent personal and interpersonal skills such as organisation, communication and attention to detail.
· Willingness and ability to travel to site facilities and offices across the UK.

Salary & Package:
