The Opportunity

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Geotechnical Engineer to join our established and growing Offshore Wind design team in our Bristol office. You will work with colleagues spread across a range of disciplines including structural engineering, nautical engineering, and maritime engineering to deliver a wide range of services.

You will ensure your team delivers geotechnical designs for the offshore wind sector to a high standard of quality and client satisfaction, using existing or setting up processes for efficient design including automation. You will also take part in mentoring and managing our junior members of the team.

This position offers scope for personal development, and we encourage self-directed thinking, focusing on developing existing skills and experience, and the sharing of these experiences with other team members.

Experience in and enthusiasm for digital technologies applicable to geotechnical engineering is desirable, for example GIS, programming (especially in python) and data (management, processing, and visualisation). Strong analytical skills and be able and prepared to present your work in reports or in client facing meetings in a clear and concise manner.

Is this role right for you?
  • Previous exposure to planning, managing, supervising, and interpreting ground investigations and laboratory test results.
  • Working knowledge of industry standard numerical modelling software such as LS-DYNA or PLAXIS to model soil-structure interaction problems including cyclic loading effects.
  • Knowledge of advanced constitutive soil models is highly desirable.
  • Proven track record of designing a range of foundation types for offshore wind turbines using the latest industry standards and guidance (e.g., the PISA project).
  • A post-graduate qualification (MSc or PhD) relevant to geotechnical related subject, e.g., Soil Mechanics.
  • Chartered or close to chartership with a recognised industry body.
