Working for a National Consultancy on various frameworks and projects including Rail, Highways, Water, Aviation and Environmental

Location: - Leeds or Bristol

Salary: - £35,000 - £50,000 basic + Package

Depending on your level of ability from an assistant Engineer to Engineers approaching Chartership.

Role:

This role is working in the Civil & Structures team based at either the Bristol or Leeds office with other teams based around the UK. This top 10 Consultancy has secured a number of projects and frameworks going live in 2023 hence needing a number of people to deliver the programme successfully.

With a mixture of framework-based work around asset maintenance and improvements on smaller schemes from 500k - 5million. Looking at bridge repairs or developing future replacements schemes. Then capital projects worth £100m+ linked to the biggest schemes in the UK such as HS2, Lower Thames Crossing, Heathrow, New Water networks etc.. from multiple new bridges, reinforced structures and associated work required to undertake the schemes.

Day to day duties could include: -

Civil and Structural design, preparation of supporting calculations and managing the preparation of technical drawings for a wide range of projects in all usual materials and structural forms
Responsibility for smaller design projects or part of a larger team on the more complex projects
Assisting with day to day commercial management of structural engineering commissions, providing information to allow the team to create budget targets.
Knowledge sharing and mentoring of less experienced graduate members of the team
Collaborative team player with strong interpersonal skills, liaising with various internal and external stakeholders involved with your project.Reporting into the Principal Civil & Structural Engineer you will be developed and mentored so you gain full chartership, allowing you to progress into the Principal level within the business. The main difference is the experience the Principal consultant has and the ability to lead projects from a technical / design aspect, support and develop junior engineers and be the stakeholder interface. Your role will be hands on designing and pushing yourself in to the Principal role be it months or years but that's the goal of the business.

A typical guide to progression and the years of experience you need to progress. This isn't always the case as you may gain chartership quicker or be part of a team that gives you a faster / steeper learner curve allowing you to progress quicker. The more you learn, the more you push yourself the fast you develop.

Graduates - 0 - 2 years

Assistant Engineers 2 years+

Engineers - 2 - 6 years

Senior Engineers - 5 - 10

Principal - 8 years +
