Job Description
You would be working in the Water and Waste-water sector in a fully integrated Design and Build environment where our teams are committed to meeting the huge challenges faced by the industry. The sector is at the forefront of the climate emergency dealing with both flooding and drought while grappling with the challenge of de-carbonising a huge amount of critical infrastructure.

You will work on one of our exciting frameworks and will have the opportunity to work within a close-knit team with other students, graduates and experienced employees.

Our placements are for a period of 6 to 12 months. We are looking for a student working towards a degree in Civil Engineering. This role will be based in our Shifnal office.

Our teams are responsible for the design and build of clean and wastewater treatment plants, pipelines, pumping solutions and storage reservoirs. The opportunity is design based and you will be involved in a project or a small portfolio of water/wastewater projects of various sizes from outline design to completion.
Candidate Specification
To join us for a placement year you must currently be at University or looking for a pre-university placement.
Youll be working with graduates, experienced professionals, and other students so a placement with us is the perfect opportunity to learn from a variety of people while understanding our values and culture. Its also a great chance to get involved with real projects while gaining relevant experience.

We do not have a formal structure for our placements, so you can really make the role your own. The more you get involved and the more questions you ask, the more you will gain from your experience with us.
As well as having one of the specific degrees listed above, we are looking for students with the following characteristics:
  • A methodical approach to problem solving
  • The ability to use your initiative to undertake tasks efficiently and independently.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills, which allow you to confidently liaise with clients and team members.
  • Excellent written communication and attention to detail with the ability to demonstrate accurate technical drawings and good report writing.

Mott MacDonald Bentley offers fully integrated design and build services to its clients, combining the contracting expertise of JN Bentley and the design specialisms of Mott MacDonald.

This role is employed by Mott MacDonald but will involve working across the joint venture business, both with Mott MacDonald and JN Bentley colleagues.
