As a Senior Drainage Engineer you will provide drainage design solutions as well as oversee the design and implementations on a range of cross-sector infrastructure projects from initial scheme concept through to detailed design and construction stages, often working as part of multi-disciplinary teams. You will manage the design of drainage systems in a BIM environment using tools such as Projectwise, Autodesk Civil3D, OpenRoads Designer or MicroDrainage as well as the preparation of integrated drainage models to a high level of accuracy and advance BIM capability . Youll provide specialist technical leadership developing the infrastructure teams skills and capacity through mentoring and developing team members. In addition to this you will also be involved in commercial and contractual aspects through contributing to bid proposals and submissions through taking on Bid or Project Manager duties. #LI-AA1

Your responsibilities will involve:
  • Controlling project resource, managing budgets and complying with corporate governance processes.
  • Developing client relationships & assisting in development of the portfolio through successful project delivery
  • Providing management support & leadership Interpreting industry design guidance and standards e.g. Sewers for Adoption, CIRIA C753 The SuDS Manual etc.
  • Working collaboratively as part of multidisciplinary teams with other disciplines & professionals
  • Meeting client requirements for quality standards, programme and budget

Candidate Specification

As a Civil Engineering or Drainage professional, you have experience in designing drainage solutions for various infrastructure projects using software such as MicroDrainage and AutoDesk Civil3D. You are comfortable interpreting industry design and standards and guidance such as Sewers for Adoption, DMRB and CIRIA C753. With your commercial experience, youre able to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams as well as lead and oversee a design team.

You will also ideally be able to demonstrate the following:
  • Degree qualified (or equivalent) in Civil Engineering or related discipline
  • Chartered, Incorporated or en-route to chartership with a professional institution
  • Understanding of the use of design tools within a BIM environment
  • Experience managing programmes and resources to deliver projects to quality, budget and timescales Eager to learn and to develop your skills and career with training support.
  • Although not essential, any experience of supporting preparation of fee proposals would be desirable.

Job Profile
Our Buildings & Cities Unit are looking to recruit a Senior Drainage Engineer to join our growing Infrastructure team in the south-east of England. We can consider office locations such as Croydon, London, Norwich or Cambridge with agile working opportunities, but we can appoint in other location for a candidate that will make an impact on our team.

Our successful and dynamic team is involved in a wide range of projects ranging from master planning and site appraisal, feasibility studies, detailed design and site supervision across a broad range of disciplines including highways, utilities, drainage & flood risk, external works, LRT and rail civils working for Clients in multiple sector including Transport, Built Environment, Defence and Water.

The role offers the opportunity to contribute to further growing the infrastructure teams profile and work portfolio through successful bidding and enhanced reputation. You will be able to develop skills and progress your career working as a part of a team of innovative engineers and specialists.
