About the role
Our Energy Unit are recruiting an Energy Storage Engineer be part of an integral team delivering large projects across the world. The role will involve working on integrated energy systems projects within Mott MacDonald. These projects include energy storage, electric vehicle integration, micro grids, smart networks, hybrid energy solutions, demand side response, micro-generation, 'grid edge' technology, and innovation. The role will be based within Mott MacDonalds Energy Unit but will require working with specialists in Mott MacDonalds transport and built environment sectors.
This role can be based in the UK or in Europe (Belgrade, Sofia, Madrid or Genova Office).

Main duties:
  • Electrical design (preparation of design reports and drawings)
  • Project management of engineering projects
  • Supervision and mentoring of junior staff
  • Acting as lead interface with clients
  • Preparation of technical and advisory reports.

Candidate Specification

About you
Candidate criteria:
  • Strong engineering background (with a specialism in Power or Electrical Engineering) with 5+ years post graduate experience
  • Strong working knowledge of energy storage systems or related specialism such as distribution network design/renewable network design
  • Excellent report writing and communication skills
  • Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team
  • Sharp analytical skills and the ability to present quantitative knowledge to non-experts
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines
  • Preparedness to travel worldwide on short business assignments
  • Excellent working ability of MS Office, knowledge in other economic/statistical packages welcome.
Desired competencies / skills:
  • Ability to work in multi-disciplinary teams
  • Previous experience in electrical infrastructure projects as Owners Engineer, Lenders Engineer or similar role
  • Previous experience in the integrated energy systems sector such as demand side response, hydrogen or renewables
  • Techno-economic modelling skills
  • Appreciation of project risk and mitigation
  • Appreciation of commercial sphere of project work including contract terms
  • Project Management experience
  • Proposal experience.
