We are currently working with one of the industrys leading civil engineering contractors, working throughout South West England & Midlands. The company operate predominately as a principal contractor on many high profile frameworks & major projects within highways, structures, water, rail & energy. These project will vary in size and complexity from £5.M up to the value of £50.M.
They currently have an exciting opportunity for a Managing Quantity Surveyor to join the regional infrastructure team based in Bristol.
As a Managing Quantity Surveyor you will have worked in the construction industry, preferably on civil engineering projects, but you wouldnt be excluded for consideration if you havent. You will be managing a commercial team and reporting directly to the Commercial Manager for Infrastructure, your key responsibilities for this role will include:

It is preferred, but not essential, that the successful candidate are;
They currently have an exciting opportunity for a Managing Quantity Surveyor to join the regional infrastructure team based in Bristol.
As a Managing Quantity Surveyor you will have worked in the construction industry, preferably on civil engineering projects, but you wouldnt be excluded for consideration if you havent. You will be managing a commercial team and reporting directly to the Commercial Manager for Infrastructure, your key responsibilities for this role will include:
- Allocating the required level of commercial support across the projects within the region
- Review of the regional monthly cost report before submission
- Providing support and guidance to the commercial team members
- Providing commercial support for the Operations Director and Contracts Manager for the region
- Perform detailed review and analysis of cost plans for large complex projects with the commercial team members
- Provide advice on contract conditions, undertake tender scrutiny, identify issues that require legal advice and manage the resolution of contractual issues
- Assist and advise colleagues with compiling strong arguments for entitlement
- Lead commercial negotiations with sub-contractors to ensure the best outcome is achieved
- Negotiate / resolve settlement of disputes with all parties to the contract, preferably in an amicable manner where possible once issue has been escalated
The Ideal Candidate:
It is preferred, but not essential, that the successful candidate are;
- Educated to degree level in Quantity Surveying, although other equivalent qualifications may be accepted (HNC/HND)
- Members of a relevant professional body e.g. CICES, RICS
- Experienced of working on general Civil Engineering projects
