The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Civil Engineer to join and support the Energy, Water and Resources team in our Glasgow office. This is an opportunity to join our team and unlock the delivery of technical solutions across a wide range of civil engineering projects. You will work with colleagues with a particular focus on maritime/ports projects required as part of the transition to ‘Net-Zero'. This is an exciting time of change for ports and via your project work you will be able to positively influence the mass deployment of technologies such as offshore wind and hydrogen. In the role you will have the opportunity to directly work with a wide range of internal and external collaborators and stakeholders, including thought leaders in their fields.

We recognise that this is a fast-growing area of work. As such, direct prior experience of projects of the type described above is not essential but a willingness to learn is.

Responsibilities will range from design activities to project management tasks, including technical delivery of civil engineering designs, calculations, models, and drawings. Delivery of project work from early masterplanning and concept stages through to detailed design and responding to site queries. Project management and delivery, including ensuring high quality technical design and reporting. Team planning and resourcing requirements across a pool of graduates and technicians and management of BIM deliverables, through active collaboration with supporting disciplines.

As part of the role, you will be expected to assist others within the team both through technical collaboration as well as mentoring and developing less experienced members of the team. Adequate support will be provided to you to enable this.

Is role right for you?

We're looking for the following qualifications, attributes, and skills:
  • Civil Engineering Master's degree or equivalent in Civil Engineering or related field.
  • Working towards Chartered Status or Chartered Civil Engineer Status, or willing to be supported in doing so.
  • Competence in interrogation of 3D Modelling of Civil Engineering projects, using industry-recognized software system e.g. Civil 3D, Revit or equivalent.
  • Knowledge and previous experience in the design and/or construction of civil/structural engineering solutions with a preference towards experience on energy projects (especially offshore renewables) and in maritime environments.
  • A desire to work on civil engineering across maritime, port and harbour projects is essential. Applicants with transferable experience from civil engineering projects in other sectors are encouraged to apply.
