Senior Geotechnical Engineer

BAM Nuttall require a Senior Geotechnical Engineer to lead engineering support with a team providing exceptional quality for customers in a safe working environment. This role can be based out of either of our regional offices in Godstone, Kent or Nailsea,North Somerset. You will beprimarily involved in planning, management, and the successful delivery of complex geotechnical projects for prestigious clients to the highest technical, quality, and safety standards. We deliver geotechnical disciplines ranging from self-drill soil nails, to ground anchorages, sprayed concrete, through to large diameter piling in rail, highway, nuclear, MOD, and private sectors.

Your mission

• Communicating effectively at all levels including site management, technical specialists, commercial staff, planners, engineers, supervisory staff operatives, suppliers, third parties and client representatives.
• Managing the safe and profitable delivery of a project and contract in accordance with company policy and procedures.
• Encouraging repeat business by adopting a professional attitude with clients and stakeholders.
• Ensuring processes are in place for the preparation, review and briefing of method statements, activity plans and risk assessments and measures are implemented to ensure they are reviewed and updated accordingly.
• Providing tender advice on potential compliance issues, technical approach and opportunities for alternative scope.
• Establishing, maintaining and monitoring an effective, programme based cost management system, to facilitate financial control with reliable QF preparation and reporting.
• Ensuring realistic programmes are prepared, managed, monitored, reviewed, and updated according to the requirements of the project and contract.
• Ensuring timely production of factual and detailed interpretative reports and accurate, clear take-off sheets and valuations.
• Seek out opportunities to increase value.
• Encouraging repeat business by adopting a professional attitude with clients and stakeholders.
• Leading and managing all staff and personnel assigned to you.
• Keeping abreast of progress and developments in the industry and specific professional fields, maintaining and updating your CPD and CV.
• Preparing and delivering internal technical seminars.
• Carrying out any other relevant duties as required from time to time.

Who are we looking for?

• Geotechnical experience in some (or all) of the following - piling/nailing/ground anchors/slope stabilisation/specialist grouting
• Great communication skills at all levels across all stakeholders
• Can do attitude and willing to learn
• Experience working in the nuclear/MOD sector
• Chartered Engineer
• Tunnelling experience
