Principal Civil Engineer
Plan, organize, direct, manage, and participate in the development, review, and approval of complex engineering and land development activities including, but not limited to, all aspects of the development of infrastructure/capital improvements and special projects, permitting, and conditioning new development and overseeing the administration of infrastructure systems; provide complex and advanced level professional engineering support involving research, planning, design, and construction of various land development, infrastructure planning, and engineering projects; and perform related work.
Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
Experience: Five years of increasingly responsible experience in civil engineering design, construction, surveying or a related field, including two years of supervisory responsibility.
Training: Equivalent to a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in civil engineering or a related field.
Required Licenses or Certificates: Possession of a valid certificate of registration as a Professional Civil Engineer issued by the State of California Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors, and Geologists. Valid California Class "C" Driver's License at time of appointment.
Senior Civil Engineer
Supervise the performance of and perform civil engineering work including work of above average difficulty and responsibility. Plan, organize, supervise, and participate in the development, review, and approval of engineering and land development activities. This position serves as a project engineer and group leader and performs related work as assigned.
Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
Experience: Three years of experience in civil engineering involving one or more of the following areas: building construction, design, construction inspection, surveying, preliminary project planning, subdivision map/plan review, traffic operations and planning, or other phases of engineering related to public works in a municipality; and
Training: Equivalent to a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in civil engineering or a related field.
Required Licenses or Certificates: Possession of a certificate of registration as a Professional Civil Engineer in the State of California. Valid California Class "C" Driver's License at time of appointment.
