ABOUT THE ASSOCIATE CIVIL ENGINEER
The Associate Civil Engineer performs a wide variety of professional highly complex engineering duties or plans, conducts and supervises engineering assignments and may lead or direct, or supervise civil engineering activities, programs and projects involving responsibility for the design or implementation of a portion of a project or function.
SELECTION REQUIREMENTS
A Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited college or university in a civil engineering curriculum approved by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET).
LICENSE AND CERTIFICATE
- A Valid California State Certificate of Registration as a Civil Engineer.
- A valid California Class C Driver License or the ability to utilize an alternative method of transportation when needed to carry out job-related essential functions.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Duties may include, but are not limited to the following: applies the principles and practices of civil engineering including the methods and materials used in the design and construction of varied civil engineering projects, budget preparation, principles and techniques of personnel management and supervision; and laws and regulations pertaining to public works construction and design; plans, coordinates, and oversees engineering activities, programs, or projects, and reviews and evaluates progress and results for technical quality and for conformity to established standards; keeps management informed throughout the project span; organizes and expresses information in comprehensive reports and may be required to organize and express conclusions in the form of oral presentations. OUR ASSESSMENT PROCESS
The examination will consist of a structured video interview covering education, experience, work style, and general ability to perform the duties of the position weighted 100%.
Candidates must achieve a passing score of 70% or higher on the interview in order to be placed on the eligible roster.
