Principal Temporary Works Engineer (Structural) - London
42.5 hours per week - Monday to Friday.
Salary negotiable depending on experience.
Main Purpose of the Role
Responsible for the success and efficient running of Structural designs supporting Projects and Conquip's Temporary Works Equipment business.
Roles and Responsibilities
Lead a design team. Actively apply your own knowledge to mentor other members.
Working with and coordinating internal departments and subcontractors to meet deadlines on multiple jobs at the same time.
Carry out the design and checking of temporary works schemes, ensure all output is in accordance with company procedures and requirements of CDM 2015.
Take ownership of designs from conception to installation and support on site.
Proactively work with clients to establish efficient sequencing and value engineered solutions.
Writing methods statements and risk assessments for site installation work.
Ensure that all health and safety regulations are observed throughout.
Experience Required
Experience of working on construction projects and methods of construction
Proven experience in the design of steel frames, components and connections to current Eurocodes and industry guidance documents
(Minimum 6 years recommended)
Experience with the design of steelwork at first principles and use of analysis and design software
Experience in FE programs such as IDEA Statica or other equivalents
Experience in the fabrication detailing of steelwork
Project management experience.
Experience in management of site teams and customer expectations.
Ability to read and work with plans/drawings.
Knowledge of CAD & IT systems. Able to sketch / draw preliminary and detailed designs.
Other Experience (beneficial):
Design of Tower Crane Grillages and Foundations
Design of propped excavations
Design of thrust blocks, Plunge Columns
Design of Reinforced Concrete elements such as Corbels, Piles, Foundations
Understanding Temporary Works with BS 5975
CSCS, SSSTS / SMSTS, TWCTC
Basic Skills Required
Driving licence
Teamwork
Good Planning and organisational skills
Strong analytical ability
