Are you an accomplished Civil Engineer? Do you have extensive experience managing large scale residential projects? Do you know your section 278 agreement from your section 106? If the answer is yes, you might want to read on.
Our Civil Design Engineer will be responsible for delivering and managing engineering design activities of several large scale, complex projects to ensure the engineering design is produced and co-ordinated to requirements. This is a brand-new role to our Design team and offers the right candidate a fantastic opportunity to truly make the role their own.
We do operate a flexible, hybrid policy with a commitment of three days contact time, either at our manufacturing facility based in Sherburn-in- Elmet or visiting our development sites. Travel to visit our development sites, as and when required, should be expected with this role.
About the Role
Key Accountabilities:
Review technical information and reports at potential new land /site appraisal stage and prepare feasibility engineering designs.
Obtain fee quotations from specialist consultants for all engineering designs and technical requirements.
Coordinate consultants to produce engineering drawings for the purposes of land bids and due diligence up to planning stage where required.
Produce engineering designs in Autodesk Civil CAD for feasibility stage designs up to planning stage design.
Review external consultants engineering designs/details with a view to value engineer where possible to ensure the most cost-effective solutions.
Produce engineering constraints drawings based on surveys, utilities, site investigation, demolition, asbestos, drouting and flood risk information.
Produce engineering designs based on architectural layout designs; cut/ fill, highways, drainage, external levels, retaining solutions, finished floor levels and foundations.
Attend design meetings with statutory and adopting authorities to determine local authorities' requirements.
Give feedback on urban design and architectural design to improve viability or deliverability of engineering solutions and to deliver viability improvements.
Actively participate in bid stage, pre-construction and other meetings as required to review and assess progress and provide constructive and frequent feedback on project team performance.
Provide on-going technical support and guidance to other internal departments and colleagues to ensure that any engineering design stages and works on site are cost effective and on programme.
Be actively involved in the close out of planning conditions.
Ensure changes in design are communicated to the team members and leadership team.
Required skills and experience
HNC / HND / Degree in Civil Engineering
Previous experience having worked on Residential design projects is essential.
Design experience of the following is essential:
Road, infrastructure, geotechnical design for residential projects
Drainage design experience inc SUDS
Experience in s278, s38, s104, s185, s106 agreements
A broad understanding of civil, structural, and architectural aspects of residential projects
Proficient user of using AutoCAD/ CIVILCAD or similar.
A strong understanding of construction technology and comfortable working to a high level of detail
