We have an excellent opportunity for a SENIOR STRUCTURAL ENGINEER based here in Cumbria, working at the Westlakes Science & Technology Park
Occasional travel to Warrington will be likely.
The successful Candidate will be responsible for:
Answering technical queries, requests for information and resolving non conformances
Producing structural calculations and details that are necessary for site modifications (with approval of the permanent works team)
Ensuring the engineering design intent is met as per the drawings and specifications
Reviewing contractor method statements, inspection plans etc.
Reviewing temporary works designs
Face to face interfacing with construction to understand requirements, issues and work priorities, assessing any impacts against the design and scope of work required
Regular interfacing of construction issues with the permanent works design team
(primarily steel / concrete issues)
Majority of time is expected to be based on site.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
Awareness of CDM Regulations and duties as a Designer.
Experience of work-packs and method statements
Design change experience required
Nuclear experience essential
Degree or HNC qualified
Chartered Engineer (MIStructE or MICE) preferable but time-served will be considered with at least 5 years experience
A pro-active, self-starter with good communication, analytical and team working skills.
Understanding of CDM Regulations.
The ability to obtain security clearance is essential
Effective computer skills latest editions of Microsoft Office software
