My Client is recruiting for a Senior Engineer in the Water Sector
My Client is a specialised consultancy in the sectors of Flood defence, moving bridges and structures within ports and harbours. The company specialises in the design of, specification of and optioneering for these structures through close professional and technical liaison with the end clients. The clients are major UK and international contractors involved in multi-million-pound flood defence schemes. Contracts can vary between a few thousand pounds and several million pounds.
The role of the Senior Engineer with Design Engineering responsibilities will be to provide the function of mechanical/ structural design to include calculation and analysis of structures within projects.
The successful candidate will be expected to participate in all design engineering functions on the engineering projects carried out in the Poole office. This will involve the mechanical/structural design of large steel hydraulic structures such as water control gates for barrages, flood defence structures, hydropower and dams. It will also involve the design of the mechanical/structural aspects of moving bridge drive and operating mechanisms.
The role will involve the preparation of Manual Calculations (using Mathcad) in accordance with Eurocode 3 and DIN 19704. The ability to understand and make use of FEA (using ANSYS) would be a distinct advantage, as would a working knowledge of oil hydraulic systems, although not essential.
Within these design engineering functions, the candidate will be expected to tutor and mentor the less experienced and graduate engineers within the Poole office and at times, if requested, to assist the same within the Wakefield office.
Skills required:-
Ability to perform manual calculations using Mathcad.
Working knowledge of Eurocode standards related to structures / buildings.
Working knowledge of dynamic / iterative analysis of structures under variable loadings.
Understanding of and working knowledge of Inventor 3D CAD.
Working knowledge of static analysis of steel structures
Working knowledge of the design of machines/mechanisms/gearboxes/drive systems
Working knowledge of oil hydraulic systems
An understanding of the electrical power and control of moving structures
Working knowledge of FEA.
Knowledge of Spaceclaim software would be an advantage
Ability to engage with, tutor and mentor less experienced engineers.
Ability to present workings both internally and to clients.
The successful candidate will be expected:-
To be either chartered, or to be actively working towards chartered engineer status.
The candidate will initially be employed at 'Senior Engineer' grade with a competitive salary dependent
upon experience.
The role will be defined as Senior Engineer grade with Design Engineering responsibilities
