We are seeking an experienced Civil Engineering Design Manager to support the development of an extensive pipeline of renewable energy projects in the UK.

Bouygues Energies & Services design, install and commission large scale solar PV farms for our clients. Supplying renewable energy from solar power plants enables local communities to reduce costs and reduce their carbon footprint. It also means they can provide off-grid power in remote areas that can be sold back to the grid or used locally at a cheaper price than grid-supplied energy.

Key activities

Lead the civil / structural design and engineering development of utility-scale renewable energy projects, from early concept to construction stage

To manage and maintain design technical compliance with Employer's Requirements, statutory requirements, and relevant design standards

To ‘project manage' the civil and structural design process

Develop conceptual designs, design / performance specifications and outline scopes of work, to enable commissioning of detailed design, design & build contract specifications and specialist consultancy support

Lead the commissioning of insourced / outsourced design and specialist consultancy, through the preparation of technical briefs, design scopes and performance specifications

Assist in the preparation of client-facing proposals and reports, such as outline / tender proposals, technical submittals and design reports

Interrogate and optimise civil and structural designs. Identify cost efficiencies and undertake cost/benefit assessments on potential value-engineering opportunities

Act as Design Manager for multi discipline projects with technical support of other design manager / engineering manager where appropriate

Skills, qualifications and experience

Bachelor or master's degree in applicable engineering or sciences

Experience in civil & construction engineering design

Experience in engineering / design management

Extensive knowledge of industrial standards

Knowledge of broader construction legislation and regulations

Proficient in the use of standard industry design tools, such as AutoCAD, Tuflow, Microdrainage

Experience in the use of standard industry design and project management tools, such as Auto Desk

Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office
