We are seeking an experienced Civil Engineering Design Manager to support the development of an extensive pipeline of renewable energy projects in the UK.
Bouygues Energies & Services design, install and commission large scale solar PV farms for our clients. Supplying renewable energy from solar power plants enables local communities to reduce costs and reduce their carbon footprint. It also means they can provide off-grid power in remote areas that can be sold back to the grid or used locally at a cheaper price than grid-supplied energy.
Key activities
Lead the civil / structural design and engineering development of utility-scale renewable energy projects, from early concept to construction stage
To manage and maintain design technical compliance with Employer's Requirements, statutory requirements, and relevant design standards
To ‘project manage' the civil and structural design process
Develop conceptual designs, design / performance specifications and outline scopes of work, to enable commissioning of detailed design, design & build contract specifications and specialist consultancy support
Lead the commissioning of insourced / outsourced design and specialist consultancy, through the preparation of technical briefs, design scopes and performance specifications
Assist in the preparation of client-facing proposals and reports, such as outline / tender proposals, technical submittals and design reports
Interrogate and optimise civil and structural designs. Identify cost efficiencies and undertake cost/benefit assessments on potential value-engineering opportunities
Act as Design Manager for multi discipline projects with technical support of other design manager / engineering manager where appropriate
Skills, qualifications and experience
Bachelor or master's degree in applicable engineering or sciences
Experience in civil & construction engineering design
Experience in engineering / design management
Extensive knowledge of industrial standards
Knowledge of broader construction legislation and regulations
Proficient in the use of standard industry design tools, such as AutoCAD, Tuflow, Microdrainage
Experience in the use of standard industry design and project management tools, such as Auto Desk
Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office
We offer an excellent benefits package including:
Generous holiday allowance
Private health care
Flexible working opportunities
