The Company:

We are working with a long established, family run, regional Civil Engineering contractor that operate on up to 20 sites throughout the North West.

They have a great reputation for delivering varied and interesting projects for their clients.

They have developed good relationships with their clients that means they enjoy a good proportion of repeat business and they are also members of a number of key procurement frameworks.

The Role:

They are now in a position to add to their Commercial team due to a number of recent, new larger value project awards and a healthy pipeline of future work.

You will report in to the Construction Director who will provide ongoing support and you will help to provide guidance for the more junior members of the QS team while commercially managing your own sites.

The plan is to grow the commercial team and you would have a key role in this and there is a clear path to a commercial management role for the right person.

You will work closely with the operations and technical teams to reach a successful commercial outcome on you projects.

You will be responsible for ensuring that projects are delivered within budget, meeting contractual requirements in a timely manner. You will have the tenacity to control and drive the commercial aspects of all projects to their successful contract delivery.

General responsibilities will include the following;

• Assist with tenders

• Procure subcontractors

• Prepare monthly forecasts and budgets

• Subcontract payments

• Valuations, variations

• Early warning and compensation event management

• Dispute resolution

• Managing client relationships

• Mentoring junior QS staff

You:

They would like to recruit a Senior QS who has previously been responsible for leading the commercial elements of £Multi-Million civil engineering projects or someone who is at Quantity Surveyor / Project Quantity Surveyor level looking for the next step in their career.

They are great at supporting this type of progression.

You will be based in or be able to commute to their office/sites in the North West of England.

You will be IT literate (particularly adept with Excel and other Microsoft packages) and contractually aware (they mainly work with NEC Contracts).
