Senior Civil Engineer

Due to an increasing workload, Engineering and Development Solutions Ltd (EDS) are looking for an experienced Senior Civil Engineer to join our team based in Threemilestone, Truro, Cornwall. The chosen candidate will have a proven track record in delivering a variety of civil engineering schemes in a timely manner to high quality standards.

Projects will include foul and surface water drainage design schemes from single houses to large residential and commercial/industrial projects mainly in the South West. Experience in highway design for estate and industrial access roads is desirable. The appointed candidate will be proficient in the use of AutoCAD drafting software; experience with MicroDrainage and Autodesk Civil 3D would be an advantage, although appropriate training would be provided for the right candidate.

Proficient use of Microsoft Office packages to produce high quality reports, communicate with clients and present design documents is required. The role will involve direct contact with clients regularly to communicate fees, work through design changes and agree preferred solutions to provide suitable, cost effective and practical designs.

The ideal candidate will be able to work independently; provide support to and manage junior level staff; and assist on larger projects where required.

The role will involve production and design assistance for the following:

Section 104, 185 and 102 agreements with UK Water Companies;

Section 278 and 38 agreements with the Highways Authority;

Foul and surface water drainage strategies including SuDS schemes;

Flood Risk Assessments;

Hydraulic Modelling using MicroDrainage software;

Civil design including access roads; estate roads and retaining walls.

Key Skills and Qualifications for this role are as follows:

Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent Environmental/Science degree and suitable post graduate experience;

5-10 years experience working in the sector on a variety of drainage and civil projects;

Chartered or working towards Chartership is desirable;

Proficient with AutoCAD; experience with Microdrainage and Autodesk Civil 3D is desirable, not essential.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team on multiple projects;

Reliable, punctual and self-motivated candidates welcomed;

Proficient use of Microsoft Office software packages a must have.

Occasional site visit duties are required so a full UK driving license is preferred.
