A Highways & Infrastructure consultancy are looking for a Senior Engineer with experience of Highways & Transportation engineering to join their team in Wakefield. As a Senior Highways & Transportation Engineer you will work on an extremely varied portfolio of projects from both Public & Private sector clients.

This role is extremely fast paced, giving you the opportunity to work on multiple projects a week and can really fast-track your career as you're given unrivalled exposure that you wouldn't receive from working in a larger office/consultancy.

Your main daily responsibilities will be to assist the Principal Engineers with the management of junior staff, assist with the delivery of schemes, be involved with the detailed design of Junction Improvements, sustainable travel/active travel projects and S278/38 schemes.

It would also be extremely beneficial for you to have knowledge of Transport Assessments and Junction Modelling using Junctions 8 as you will be expected to be involved in these too.

Senior Highways & Transportation Engineer Responsibilities

Preparation of Transport Assessments, Travel Plans, Local Plans, Transport Strategies, Traffic Management Plans and Access Studies for a wide range of development and regeneration projects from small residential sites to large scale mixed use strategic development sites and Nationally Significant Infrastructure Projects (NSIPs)
Highway design, including public realm schemes, bus priority, sustainable transport, junction and road designs, cycle infrastructure and input to master planning of development sites
Transport modelling including junction models and developing strategic multi-modal, traffic and micro-simulation models
Real-time traffic management by PTV Optima
Contribution to Environmental Statements
Preparing and/or overseeing technical reports and design drawings and liaison with the client
Involvement in the management of internal and external client relationships
Collaborative working with team members and other business disciplines
Technical guidance of less experienced staff, and supporting their career development
Leading or supporting the preparation of bids and fee proposals within the Transport & Highways team and as part of multi-disciplinary bid teams
Ensuring technical content and deliverables are in line with project briefs and Wood's Quality Management SystemSkills / Qualifications

HND or degree in Civil Engineering/other relevant degree or equivalent work experience
Extensive experience of AutoCAD, AutoTrack, KeySign, KeyLine, Microsoft applications
Technical knowledge and experience in the assessment and design of highways/transport engineering projects
Experienced in the application of design standards and current good practice in scheme design and development. This includes but is not limited to; DMRB, TSRGD, LCDS, MfS2, Traffic Signs Manual, LTN 1/20
Knowledge of CDM regulations and its application in scheme delivery
Experience of transport planning, including Transport Assessments, and of contributing to multi-disciplinary projects
Management of small to medium-sized projects
Chartered or working towards chartership with ICE or CIHT or TPS an advantage
Experience of local junction modelling software packages (LinSig, Junctions9)
