Due to our continued success and growing business demands we currently have a vacancy for a Senior Structural Engineer who is looking to develop their career, working on a diverse portfolio of projects throughout the UK. This role will be based out of our Birmingham office, offering hybrid working once your induction is complete.?Barker provide excellent opportunities for progression and career development and a variety of work to suit high calibre individuals.

As a Senior Structural Engineer you will be working on a range of structural engineering projects from concept design through approvals to construction, preparing calculations and technical design information to deliver innovative structural engineering solutions for both new-build and refurbishment projects.

Key Accountabilities
  • Leading projects effectively to meet time, cost and quality targets.
  • Provide assistance and support for all team members.
  • Assist asset management reviews of client.
  • Key client account management - collaborate with client to achieve optimum outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Build and maintain strong business relationships with clients to achieve long term goals.
  • When advised deputise duties of Associate when absent.
  • Manage condition surveys of existing building stock to record condition and write follow up report accordingly.
  • Organise and lead technical surveys to inform building services feasibility stage strategies for projects.
  • Inspect properties to check conditions/ structural integrity.
  • Approve technical calculations.
  • Produce detail technical designs using AutoCAD/Revit.
  • Organise and submit technical documentation and drawings for tender.
  • Management of internal and external design consultants as part of a coordinated project team.
  • Conduct tender analysis and recommendations.
  • Manage construction plans with clients and other professionals.
  • Operationally responsible for site inspections to assess the health & safety, whether the project is on program, quality of work etc at site inspections and report accordingly to the client.
  • Chair and minute external and internal project meetings.
  • Actively contribute to relevant internal and external meetings.
  • Managing fee projection for various projects in a timely manner and issue fee invoices in line with targets.
  • Issue certificates under contracts.
  • Utilise Deltek and other companywide systems for storing project, client information and personal data to an accurate level.
  • Attend mandatory training, meet and record CPD professional standards.
  • Travel required for the undertaking of site visits, surveys and client meetings.
  • Subject to business requirements, flexibility to perform any other duties at the same level of accountabilities and responsibilities.

Specialist Knowledge and Qualifications
  • Degree or equivalent in Structural Engineering.
  • Approaching corporate membership towards MICE/MI StructE.

Hours: Monday - Friday 8.30am - 5pmHoliday: 25 days + bank holidaysBenefits: Private Health Cover/Private Pension SchemeWFH Policy: Applicable post probationAll roles will be subject to a DBS Enhanced check.
